How much does it cost to join Mixpal?

Nothing! It is free to sign up with Mixpal. You only pay a small comission at the end of each month on what you actually sell.

I have an album of material, how do I upload it to your server and sell it as a single Album?

That's a great questions, and we are glad you asked. It's easy to sell an album through Mixpal. All you need to do is collect your MP3 files into one folder and use a free compression program (like Stuffit or WinZip) to collect all of the files into one .ZIP file (we recommend .ZIP compression, as that is the most common compression technique, and nearly all computers can uncompress it without any effort). Once you have a single .ZIP file you can then upload it to Mixpal, and sell it like any other file.

Do I need a PayPal account to use your service?

Well technically you can sign up using any email address you want, but if you actually want to get paid for your sales, then yes, you will need a PayPal account.

What is the best kind of PayPal account to get?

The best kind of PayPal account to get for most artists will be a micropayment account. This account charges a much lower processing fee per sale and will enable you to make significantly more money using MixPal then any other service currently available. What if I already have a PayPal account? how do I open a micropayment account?

You can open a micropayment account in addition to your normal account. However if your prior PayPal account is already verified (i.e. you have a bank account on file), you will either need to use a different bank account, or have a non-verifed micropayment account, since PayPal will not let two different PayPal accounts share the same bank account. If this is the case, you will run into an extra step when you want to make withdrawals: you will either have to have PayPal send you a check, which can take a couple weeks, or a workaround is to use the "mass pay" feature to send money to your other verified PayPal account.

Can I sell other forms of digital media besides music?

Yes, you can sell videos, pdf's, shareware programs, and just about anything you can think of that can be distributed over the net. The important thing to remember is that you must be the owner of whatever you are selling. People selling items that they don't actually own will be banned for life, and we will also report all infractions to PayPal, which also takes a dim view of this kind of fraud.

My band is a cover band, can we sell our version of cover songs?

Selling a cover song requires getting a license to do so. The most common place to get this license is the Harry Fox agency. You cannot legally sell a cover song until you have acquired a license to do so. We do not administer the licenses, nor do we help you obtain them. You will be responsible for paying any royalties due to the composer/author. Again, we must emphasize, that selling unlicensed cover songs is strictly forbidden, and if we find you doing it you can be banned for life.

We want to sell MP3's that are encoded in a lossless format, is that allowed?

You can sell any kind of digital file you want to. You can even sell raw WAV files if that floats your boat. You have 1 gigabyte of storage to use however you see fit.

How long does it take for our fans to receive the download?

Your fans can start downloading immediately if their payment has cleared. If the payment has not cleared at the time of purchase, they will be sent an email as soon as the payment clears with a link for downloading.

What if the purchaser's computer freezes and/or shuts down between payment and download?

All completed purchases are sent an email with the download link, so if there is a problem after the payment is complete, the purchaser can still download the purchase at a later date.

Do our fans need to have an account with MixPal, or PayPal to be able to download our songs?

Your fans will not need an account with MixPal or PayPal, as they can pay with any valid credit card, and download directly through your site.
